Fin Films specialises in stories about science, the natural world and its people and is run by Janine Finlay who has 20+ years experience in broadcast television in both NZ and the UK.  

Janine had the great opportunity of setting up and running the film unit for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in the UK.  She is an RTS Award Winner for Science and History Documentary, is a BAFTA runner up, a Celtic Media Awards nominee and a Soho Shorts nominee.  

Fin Films is passionate about telling stories and frequently collaborates on projects with some of the most talented and creative people in the country to produce professional content for broadcasters, corporations and organisations - anything from writing scripts for educational output, to making broadcast films and programmes, and making environmental campaign films for NGOs.   
 
 Fin Films has huge reverence for the natural world and strives to connect people with it - looking continually for stories that fit with these values. Fin Films' base in Scotland ensures the natural world is on the doorstep.

MORE ABOUT JANINE...

Janine's film making has taken her all over the world - from the cotton fields of India, to a fishing boat on the North Sea, to the rubbish dumps of Mexico City.  She has been described by her bosses as 'extremely creative' [BBC] and 'fearless' [WWF] and all her clients are impressed with her ability to 'hit the ground running'.  She was lucky enough to be one of 16 filmmakers in Europe to be selected for the Discovery Campus Masterschool to develop the documentary 'Oh No Not Another Documentary About Climate Change' with leading industry experts and commissioners;  and she has achieved a distinction in Creative Writing with The Open University. 

As well as film making skills, Head of Fin Films Janine Finlay has a science and nature connection toolkit, which comes into good use on many projects - she has trained for one year part time in ecopsychology, in science foundation with the Open University, has partially completed Summer Mountain Leader and she has an outdoor first aid qualification. You might also find her rummaging around on the ground looking for badger setts for the National Scotland Survey!
